Prohibition Era Cocktails: The "French 75" Recipe and drink historic information.

How to make the "French 75" Prohibition Era cocktail with recipe and historic information.

The French 75, a wonderful vintage cocktail, got it's name from the famous World War I big artillery gun. The French 75 is a classic cocktail drink that was invented during the Prohibition Era.

"French 75" Recipe:
Ingredients

• 1 ½ oz London Dry Gin

(Gordon's London Dry, Tanqueray London Dry, Bombay Sapphire, Monkey Gland Broker's, etc.)

• 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice

• 3/4 oz simple syrup (bar syrup, sugar water)

• chilled champagne to top off


Mixing Procedure:
Shake in a cocktail shaker until cold and frosty with cracked ice.

Strain the mixture in a highball glass with cracked ice.

Top off this cocktail with a chilled champagne.

Garnish with Lemon and or a cherry.

Prohibition Era Cocktails: The Sidecar recipe and information.

Prohibition era cocktails of the roaring 20's: How to make the classic Sidecar cocktail drink.


This vintage cocktail was designed in France during 1920's and was one of the main cocktails of the Prohibition Era. It was one of the few drinks that did not use Gin. The sidecar is still served in
quite a few classy speak easy joints across the united states today. It’s said to be named after a army captain who liked to be driven to the bar in his motorcycle sidecar.

Sidecar Recipe:
Ingredients


• 1 ¼ ounce Cognac (Brandy)

• ½ ounce Orange Liqueur (Cointreau, Grand Marnier, Triple Sec, etc.)

• ¾ ounce fresh lemon juice.

Mixing Procedure:
Shake well in a cocktail shaker with cracked ice.
Strain into chilled cocktail glass.
Line the rim with sugar.
